A Unique Collectible Experience for Transit Fans
Calling all Metro Vancouver residents and public transit enthusiasts! TransLink has launched its first-ever series of trading cards, and it’s a move that’s sure to excite collectors of all ages. Starting August 8, 2025, the organization will distribute 800 free starter packs at the TransLink Customer Service Centre at Waterfront Station, each containing three randomly selected cards.
What’s Inside the Collection
The limited-edition trading card series features five unique designs that celebrate the iconic public transport vehicles of the region. Notably, collectors will find cards featuring the historic Mark I SkyTrain car, a piece of Metro Vancouver’s history from 1985, and the sleek Mark V SkyTrain car, which represents the future of the fleet. The West Coast Express locomotive is also included, recognized for its rarity, alongside the Burrard Chinook SeaBus, adorned with Indigenous artwork, and the environmentally-friendly Nova LFS CNG bus.
Collecting: A Challenge Worth Taking
With only 15 of the ultra-rare Mark I cards and just 100 of the West Coast Express cards available at the launch, early attendees are encouraged to line up and snag these collectible gems. The remaining cards, though available in higher quantities, will still be limited, making the thrill of completing a full set an enticing challenge for fans. TransLink also has plans to distribute the cards at community events including the PNE Fair and through random giveaways, keeping the excitement alive well beyond the launch.
A Playful Nod to the Community
More than just trading cards, this initiative taps into nostalgia and community pride. Designed in-house by TransLink’s creative team, these cards add a playful touch to Vancouver’s bustling transit scene.
